Who Honestly would look at me and go “theyre straight”
ATTENTION QUEER INDIGENOUS ARTISTS
My name is Whess (Carrier, mixed-race, nonbinary, pan; currently attending Emily Carr University) and I would like to ask a favour!
I’m in a class focusing on curatorial practices in exhibitions of indigenous work and I need to write a catalogue essay for a prospective/imagined exhibition…I want to write about the intersections of indigenous identity, specifically queer intersections, but I’m having a hard time finding the 4-5 pieces of work I need to frame my essay around (so sad).
Does anyone know of any queer indigneous artists or ARE themselves a queer indigenous artist who’s done work of any kind (painting, video, photography, illustration, zines, anything!) pertaining to the intersections of their identity as an indigenous person that might be willing to share some of thier works (and allow me to use their photodocumentation to attach to the essay) so that I can flesh out this essay?
And who knows, perhaps even one day actually get it together to have an exhibition O_O
Please send me an ask if you’re interested or have questions, or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
